Federal Gold Medal 223 Rem match-grade ammunition 77 gr BTHP (Boat Tail Hollow Point) GM223M3 is created for long-range, accurate shooting. The bullet’s boat-tail design contributes to an increase in aerodynamic stability, which boosts precision and lessens wind drift. Instead of expanding upon impact, the hollow point’s design aims to increase the projectile’s aerodynamics.
The 77-grain Sierra MatchKing bullet used in this ammo is heavier than the majority of conventional 223 Remington rounds, resulting in a lower muzzle velocity but a higher downrange retained energy. It is therefore best suited for long-range target shooting or competition, but not for hunting or self-defense.
The GM223M3 is produced in accordance with exacting quality control guidelines and is intended to deliver consistent accuracy and performance shot after shot. Shot this ammo on a 200 yard range, with an 14.5 inch AR and a red dot. Almost all of the hits were in a 6 by 6 inch target, nicely clustered together. I was quite pleased, since I hardly could see the target
